The Amarillo Zoo is adhereing to the updated order by the governor of Texas. The zoo will be reopening May 29th, 2020 and continue normal operating days and hours (Sunday through Saturday 9:30a-5:00p) until further notice.

  • The education and herpetarium buildings will remain closed.
  • High contact areas will be cleaned frequently throughout the day.
  • Staff will be wearing masks, but no masks are required by guests at the zoo at this time.
  • A sanitation station will be available for guests at the zoo kiosk located by the concession stand.
  • All facilities still require patrons to adhere to strict social distancing practices. Sanitize and wash hands frequently, avoid shared contact when possible and stay home if you think you may be sick.

The Amarillo Zoo is located in Thompson Park. Take Hwy 287 North off of I-40, take the N. 24th Ave. exit and go West, turn right into Thompson Park and follow the signs to the Zoo parking lot.
