Ball python

Also known as royal pythons, ball pythons prefer grasslands and open forests. Ball pythons can be found on or under the forest floor and become active during dawn and dusk.

  • After laying their eggs, female ball pythons coil around their clutch of eggs until the offspring hatch, then they are on their own.
  • Ball pythons are known for “balling”, which is when they form a tight ball with their head at the center.
  • Female ball pythons are generally larger than males ball pythons.
