Homeschool at the Zoo (HATZ)

This bi-monthly program invites homeschool students ages 6-12 to explore diverse animal habits and their unique ecosystems. This is a wonderful hands-on learning experience your child won't want to miss! HATZ take place the first Thursday of the months listed below

Program cost is $5 per child

January: Conservation Station

Conservation! Preservation! Education! These are fundamental values most zoos carry in their mission. What is an endangered species? How can we help? Sign up your homeschooler today to learn why the zoo’s endangered species are worth saving and how we can help species that live on the other side of the world, as well as the wildlife that live in our backyard.

March: The Vertebrate 5

What’s a vertebrate? The answer is always behind you! Come out to the Amarillo Zoo and discover the adaptations and characteristics of birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and fish through animal encounters and activities.

The Amarillo Zoo is located in Thompson Park. Take Hwy 287 North off of I-40, take the N. 24th Ave. exit and go West, turn right into Thompson Park and follow the signs to the Zoo parking lot.
