Earth Day

Join Amarillo Zoo in celebrating Earth Day on Saturday, April 28 from 9:30am to 3:00pm. Visitors can learn about local, regional and global environmental issues while visiting or participating in one of many activities planned.  Exhibits include: Texas Parks and Wildlife, Xcel Energy, Girl Scouts, Texas Master Naturalists, Palo Duro Canyon State Park, Canyon Edge Plants, West Texas A&M University, Panhandle PBS and more!

Other fun activities include:

  • Tree seedling give-away (while supply lasts)
  • Make a seed bomb and a potted wildflower garden to take home
  • Milkweed seed give-away (while supply lasts)
  • Make a Black-footed Ferret or a horned lizard mask
  • Get your face painted like a tiger and help raise funds for tiger conservation
  • Green Trail Challenge scavenger hunt
  • “Hug a Tree” Tree Hugger Photo area
  • Worm composting booth
  • Make a bird feeder stick
  • Costumed Characters
  • Zero Waste Superhero recycling challenge game
  • Keeper chats
  • Animal Encounter stations

The Amarillo Zoo is located in Thompson Park. Take Hwy 287 North off of I-40, take the N. 24th Ave. exit and go West, turn right into Thompson Park and follow the signs to the Zoo parking lot.
